1st Annual Teen Bash 2010
November 17, 2009
They are Taryn Evans, 15 and Tiffany Jack, 17 years old. They are the young women behind the 1st Annual Teen Bash 2010. They will be inviting over three hundred youth/teen leaders from around the greater Seattle area to come together on January 15, 2010 for a fundraising benefit concert to expand their awareness about youth living with auto-immune diseases in their community. The mission to expand awareness of the effect these diseases have on teens and youth is most important to us as we both experience it everyday. Tiffany has Lupus and Taryn has Crohn’s. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to two selected local charities to contribute towards heightening the awareness of these diseases.

Studio by the Sound
May 15, 2009
It’s always an honor when one artist chooses another to be of service. I was tickled when Kathy called and asked me to once again do her ‘headshot’ for her website. I walk past her colorful home everytime I head to my studio. It’s bright colors always make me smile. Wish my yard looked like that! Visit her site at: http://www.studiobythesound.com/
Paczki Day in West Seattle
March 14, 2009
Paczki (punch-key) Day is the feast of plenty before the Lenten fast begins. The traditional deep fried pastries which are similar to jelly doughnuts, are enjoyed throughout the world’s Polonias. In Poland, Paczki Day takes place the Thursday before Ash Wednesday, called Tlusty Czwartek (Fat Thursday). In United States Polonia, Paczki Day takes place the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, traditionally called Fat Tuesday in Carnival.
The Metropolitan Market celebrated the art of the Paczki, a traditional Polish treat that surfaces during the Lent/Easter season. They held their first Paczki eating contest that proved to be an act of stuffing one’s self with the tasty treat to see who could eat the most! Here’s how it went down….
If you would like to make some yourself I found a recipe here: http://www.polamjournal.com/Library/Holidays/paczki/paczki.html
